After Security update 2011-05 ethernet/firewire stopped working

Download new security update 2011-05 my ethernet cannot recognise my modem saying it is unplugged and my music interface won't power up through firewire any help would be appreciated cheers,

Try an SMC reset.

The procedure for doing an SMC reset varies from Mac model to Mac model. Please tell us, precisely, which model of Mac you're using, and we can provide the link to the instructions for that particular model.
 
Thanks for the reply smc reset seamed to have worked ethernet is working again my firewire is working also, appreciate as i am new to mac.
