Background image gone

I found a great picture of Vader and set it as my background image, but everytime I startup my computer, it's gone and in its place is one of the aqua backgrounds. What's going on? Help.

Is your battery ok? You could be losing your settings. Also, did you save it to your picture folder?

Does your Dock come up normally, instead of the default Dock with the info "springy-icon" thing by the trash? (Really doesn't pertain if you haven't changed your dock from the stock "freshly-installed OS" dock)

Is it just the background image, or are other aspects of the Finder reverting to their original settings? Tried permissions repair and/or rebooted?

A Preference file may be out of wack too.

The image is saved in my Pictures Folder. What is the name of the preference file that may be corrupted?
