Backup iTunes for iPhone

I am planning to do a clean install of Mac OS X Lion on my Mac but I don't want to mess up my iPhone sync.
So how do I backup my iTunes so that after a fresh Lion install, I can continue to use my iPhone without any sync issues.

Here's an article about what, specifically, needs to be backed up and transferred to the new computer (or the old computer with a fresh OS X install):

I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of this tutorial, as the last time I did a clean install, I simply migrated all my iTunes stuff over, restored the iPhone, and set it up as a new phone (then simply copied all my apps and music back over).

If I restore my iPhone as a new Phone, I'd be losing my SMSs. I don't want that to happen.
Any help regarding this ?

There's an app called DiskAid that I use to save files on my iPhone. The later versions also save SMS messages.

You can see the files on the phone and you should be able to save the existing messages, upgrade and then paste them back to the phone if you need to.

It is easy to get back up of iTunes of iPhone just with iCloud feature of Apple. First, connect your mobile phone with internet and then open setting option. After this, click on iCloud and select Backup and restore. This is the best way to get easy backup of iTunes.
