been using Acquistion for years but recently it's gone off the boil and comes up with v few files. Downloaded latest Limewire which failed to mount at all, despite 3 efforts.

Any good new software out there??
 
Transmission and Acquisition are two, different P2P clients that use two, different P2P protocols. Transmission is for BitTorrent, while Acquisition is for the Gnutella network -- which are two very different P2P networks.

It seems as though Gnutella-based application development has been stagnant for a while, not to mention the fact that the RIAA and MPAA have littered the Gnutella network so bad it's pretty unusable anymore.

Apparently, registering Acquisition gets you more results -- have you registered Acquisition, or are you using the unregistered version?

There have also been some pretty nasty things said about the developer of Acquisition, just as a side note.
 
yes have paid for Acquistion, but search results poor, used to be much better years ago. Limewire won't even load at all...(why cd that be, downloaded latest version from site just refuses to mount or open)?
 
What exact error message do you get when trying to mount the LimeWire disk image, if any at all -- and, if there is no error message, what exactly happens? Icon bounces in the dock then disappears? No icon at all? No feedback at all from the Finder? Log messages in the Console? Screen turns green then spits swiss cheese out of the optical drive?

Help us help you. We can go on and on trying to guess what exactly you're experiencing all day, or, you could tell us precisely what you're experiencing.

Saying "LimeWire won't even load at all" is too vague... like taking your car to the shop and saying, "It's making a funny noise. What, precisely, is wrong with it, and what is the definitive fix for this generic funny noise it's making?"
