Blocking Removable storage

Is there a way (maybe software) how i can control the removable storage in my macosx network i manage?

Can you please elaborate? What is "removable storage" -- a tape drive? CD/DVD drive? Zip drive? External/portable hard drive?

What exactly do you wish to do with this "removable storage?"

I mean usb/firewire sticks/harddrives...

Are you using a server with server user accounts? If so, what server?

Define "control". Do you want to make the removable storage eject? Fly? Erase itself?

I'm using osx server 10.4.. I would like to block usbsticks and usb harddrives..

I haven't tried it, but my first attempt would be to change perms on /Volumes so non-admin users can't mount there.

That's sounds good. But would it also block reading cdroms/dvd's ?

The most basic approach that I'm talking about would block anyone non in the admin group from mounting anything. If you want to allow CD-ROM/DVD mounts, but not USB storage devices, then I don't have anything for you...maybe someone else has an idea.

There used to be documentation on Apple's developer site about rigging up OS X for kiosk use, but it's out of date so I haven't linked to it here.
