Compact Flash no longer seen

Okay... I so I go out and buy iLife 04 cause iPhoto was soooo slllooww I didn't use it anymore, too many pictures. Well, it loads and is super fast. Now I have like 40 photos to import, but no luck cause I also applied the security update... (most recent) and it doesn't even see my Compact Flash. It won't mount.

Downgrade? Update your card reader/camera? Um, use a different computer to transfer?
 
Is there anything you can do to a compactflash card that refuses to be formatted? Whenever I put my 32mb CF card into my camera the camera tries to format it but can't, so it just keeps trying to format it until I turn it off, and when I put it into either my osx box or xp box the card still won't format.
I kinda want to get this card working because I'm going to france spring break and even though it's just a 2mp digital camera it would be great to have with me, and the 8mb of built in memory just isn't enough.

Try to format in any other camera that will accept it, then try formatting again in your own camera.
Try formatting in a card reader (you may want to do this on a PC)
Accept that the card is damaged, replacements R cheap...
 
It sounds like your CF card may be at the end of its life. They have a limited number of formats they can withstand before they go kaput, and it sounds like yours has reached that point... :(

I've found that simply deleting files from the CF card rather than formatting the card every time you want to wipe it clean extends the life dramatically.
 
I have maybe formatted the card once... always just delete the stuff from it. I did notice now when I stick it in the camera, it gives me a error. :( When I take my other flash card and plug it into the reader, doesn't see it either. Camera does and it likes it.

Worked up until the recent iLife 04 and Security Update.
