Hi there,

I had problems with my computer being slow, so I ran the Disk Utility. When I Verified the HD, it could not complete the First Aid process and I got this message:

Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
%)
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair

What should i do next??

Please advise.

If Disk Utility can't repair it, you need a good one. IMHO, DiskWarrior is the best, then TechTool Pro.

In a pinch, download the free Applejack available at Versiontracker or MacUpdate. It MIGHT help you.

Backup now! I can't stress this enough. Mostly drives do not just fail. They usually fail in an old Hollywood film death style. Backup now!
