.DS_Store file on desktop

I need some information. I don't know how I got a ".DS_Store" file on my desktop and every time I delete it, it comes back. Any ideas on what causes that file to be created and how I can remove it permanently from my desktop? I am running Mac OS X version 10.7.3.

TIA

Javier

Just to clarify:
TinkerTool:
Finder tab, unselect "show hidden and system files", then click "Relaunch Finder"
That change will re-hide those files that are normally hidden.

Thank you for your help. That corrected it for me. Do you have any idea how that would have changed in the first place? I obviously don't know enough about the Mac OS to make a change like that and it did not show those system files to begin with.

Thank you

Javier

Most likely you have downloaded, copied or unzipped some files that had .DS_Store with them. Since zip-files and FAT32-filesystem (normally used in USB memory sticks) do not have hidden attribute, .DS_Store file came visible.
