External CD burners with iTunes

Hello, on my itunes 4.7 the burn button doesn't find my external Lacie f/w cd burner, is there anyway I can change this, or is itunes just not compatible with it?

LaCie made the firewire enclosure and the firewire bridge chip, but Panasonic, Yamaha, Sony, Pioneer, or LiteOn made the actual CD-RW mechanism. Compatibility is as much a function of the mechanism as it is the connection type - firewire, usb, or ATA.

The best source of compatibility information for drives is the XLR8YourMac user reports database. You may even find some hacks to make an otherwise incompatible drive, compatible. Having said that, it may well be that you will need Toast Titanium to use your external CD-RW.
