Finder keeps restarting

Hey,

I'm using:

10.4.3
512MB RAM
1.33 Ghz Processor Pbook G4
60GB HD (plenty of space)

I've tried:
Fixing preferences (both verifying and repair)
Verifying/repairing disk
Logging Out
A different user (the other account was fine. It was made before the problem occurred).

I was doing nothing. I had just left the Powerbook for a second. When I came back it was resetting the Finder. It would launch, display everything for a second, and quit. Then it would launch, and would become the active program (the program I am currently using).

Help!

What is the Console application (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) errors telling you?

Can't access the log - it's in the Finder :P

The log file is not in the Finder... it's on your hard disk -- the Finder is just one of many ways of accessing that file.

Use the Terminal and navigate to "/Users/mo/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/" and then you can freely look at the Finder.crash.log file. If that doesn't work, you can boot into single-user mode and access it similarly.

Using the UNIX command line commands.

To change directories, you type "cd" and then the directory you'd like to go to. You can use the command "cat" to display files, and you can use the command "more" (either as a pipe or a program by itself) to display the files page-by-page. If you forget what file you're looking for, you can always type "ls" to get a listing of files and directories in the current directory you're in.

To view the contents of the log file, you'd type (">" means UNIX command prompt -- don't type it):

> cd /Users/mo/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/

> cat Finder.crash.log
or
> cat Finder.crash.log | more
or just
> more Finder.crash.log
