folder weirdness

Hello all, MacBook Pro 2.4 running 10.6.6. About a month ago I was dragging a folder across the Desktop and accidentally dropped it onto the top grey section of another open folder. Now the icon for that dropped folder appears on the top grey section of almost all the other folders I open, and I can't get it off. I've tried to attach a pic to this query but don't think I've been successful there, sorry. Double-clicking on the icon reveals the folder contents in the normal way. I'd really like to get rid of it from the top bar of my other folders. Anybody know how to do it? thanks Tony
 
To remove that folder icon from your finder window toolbar - hold your command key down, then drag the icon off the toolbar. It will disappear in a 'poof'
