Just bought my son an ibook to take to college and the harddrive is wonky. Ran the apple hardware test and would like to know if there is a place to find out what the error message I got means before I take it in to be fixed or replaced.

That code shows a failure on the ATA bus. It could be the ATA controller (replace the logic board). Or, could be the IDE drive cable. But, most likely (which you can already guess), the hard drive is failing/failed, and should be replaced.

that was my suspicion but I always want to have some clue before I turn it over to the techs. Luckily it is brand new so the fix is easy. thanks again!
