help with an virus infection

This is not only my opinion, but just part of the facts: There is not (yet) any active virus that will infect a Mac and OS X without having direct (physical) access to your Mac. There are a very small number of trojans ( less than 4 or 5) that are generally found on porn sites, and not much anywhere else. The trojans are not viruses (they don't spread), and are relatively harmless - they seem to only slow down, or re-direct your web browsing.
So, you don't have a virus... :D
Activity that may be similar to virus is almost always a software problem that can be solved through a number of techniques.

What kind of problem are you having with your Mac?

+1 :)
The only kind of software for virus protection I use on my Mac is a firewall, namely ProteMac NetMine. That' really enough!

These are the the only Trojans for OS X.

In the overwhelming majority of instances where a Mac user thinks that they have a "virus," they don't. They usually have some other simple problem, such as a corrupted user preferences file. Unless you have a specific reason to suspect malware, your first assumption should be that you *do not* have a malware problem, but some other common problem.

What are the symptoms of the problem that you are experiencing?

There are currently no actual viruses (self-replicating malware) for the Macintosh. However, there *are* more Trojans than just the DNSChanger Trojan for OS X. (But note that these are all incredibly rare. You probably couldn't find them if you went out purposely looking for them.)

I've heard of:

I don't know to what extent any of the above are duplicate names for the same thing since most reporting services don't cross-reference each other.
