install second hard drive

Hey all,

Finally switched from PC to Mac...have a new DP G5. I only ordered the 160GB hard drive and now I want to add a second internal HD.


Do I need to buy any particular kind/brand of hard drive?

You probably have an SATA drive in there now (IDE is no longer used). Just make sure you have a PM with an SATA hard drive. If so, make sure to buy an SATA hard drive to add.

I can recommend Western Digital brand drives -- they've served me well for many years. Others have good things to say about the new Seagates.

As applemaz said, you have SATA connections in your new G5. Make sure the drive you get is a "Serial ATA" drive.
