Is there a reliable external BluRay/DVD/CD reader/writer about?

The saga of my 2010 iMac continues. The black screen issue seems to have been cured by a new screen, but now the superdrive is not consistently recognising inserted discs. I've tried a clean, but the problem persists.

If I decide to buy a newer iMac, I will need an external disc drive anyway, so I might buy one now and continue to use it once I get a new computer.

The Apple one does most things, but not BluRay. I have a BluRay player by the TV, but a BluRay reader/writer might be useful in the future.

Anyone with experience of one? Any recommendations? I've seen Samsung and Asus ones available, but I have no idea if they are any good.

Thanks! I can't find a source for the slim BluRay reader in the UK, but as I'm looking for a Newer Tech HD t the moment, there are the two items below. Although, once again, we are victims of the £1 = $1 sales conversion that is common over here.
