Lion- issue: Terminal opens at startup

Hello,

I used Terminal once, and closed it when done. Now whenever I start up my computer, Terminal is on the dock and launches a new window. I've looked at the Terminal options and neither "Keep in dock" or "Launch at startup" are checked. Any idea for how to keep it from opening whenever my computer starts?

First open System Preferences->User & Groups. Then highlight your account and in the right-hand of the pane select the mini tab for 'Login Items' and make sure it is not there.

Then when you shut down your Mac make sure you uncheck the box to open previous windows.
 
It didn't work! Terminal is not in my login items and the "restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" box is unchecked (I assume that's the one you mean). I restarted and here Terminal is again.

Any other ideas?
 
Did you actually QUIT Terminal (by pressing command-q or selecting File > Quit), or did you simply close the Terminal window (by pressing command-w or clicking the red "close window" button)?

Simply closing the window does not quit the app, it simply closes the window. The application is still running, and upon login, it will open a new window (since the app is still running).

Check to make sure you QUIT the app instead of simply closing the window. If that's not the case, then you may have something in your login items that causes Terminal to launch (even if Terminal itself is not in the login items).
