I'm looking for 2 new 2TB sata drives to put in my Mac Pro. I'm a photographer and have lots of photos I want to keep on these drives as backups.
Below are the specs from my Mac:

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
Memory: 10 GB
Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz

I treat drives as commodities - I price shop.
The only brand drive I've ever had a catastrophic failure on was Hitachi. I still buy Hitachi.
I compare prices at:
Micro Center, Tiger Direct, ZipZoomFly, Amazon, Newegg, macsales (OWC) - maybe one or two others.

Western Digital, all the way, but as is evident here, some people are partial to other brands.

I would recommend staying AWAY from Seagate-branded drives.

As long as we're discussing catastrophic failure, my only one was Maxtor. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to buy any other brand.
