Lost password, cant boot from DVD

I have an IMAC dome os 10.4 tiger

I tried many times to boot from dvd by pressing C at start up
but will not boot

any other way of removing password
 
Try booting and holding the option key to bring you to boot manager. This way you should see your available boot options. If you don't see OSX disk as one of the bootable options then perhaps the machine is not reading that disk or its not the correct disk.
 
"Pressing C" at startup? Or "holding down C" at startup?

In order to boot from a DVD, you need to insert the DVD, restart the computer, then immediately hold down the 'c' key and keep it held down as the computer boots.

Simply pressing and releasing the 'c' key won't do anything. It needs to be held down. Is this what you're doing?
