Mac hdd named Untitled read write permissions

RTDUDE

I wound up reformatting my disk and loading snow leopard and then installed Lion.

Now, I notice my hard drive is named "Untitled" .

When I downloaded and tried to install Google Earth I got the point of Drag the Google Earth to your hard drive to install it.

When I did that I get a message "The item "Google Earth" can't be moved because "Untitled" can't be modified.

I used disc utilities to repair the disk permissions but I still get the same message.

Any idea on what to do now??

Thanks

Doug

Ok, i just did that and it looks like it installed. When I look in the applications folder and see Google Earth is an icon with a couple of sheets paper with a paintbrush and pencil and a Circle with a line going through it. If I drag that icon onto my Dock, the Real google earth icon displays on the dock..

If there's a way to do a display a screen shot on here I can show you what the icon looks like in the Apps Folder.

This is a screen shot of the applications folder after dragging Google Earth to it.

Looks like one of two things:

1) The Google Earth bundle you downloaded is corrupt -- re-download the most recent version and try to install it again.
2) You're running an incompatible version of Mac OS X for the Google Earth version you downloaded -- what specific Mac model are you using, and what version of OS X is installed?

Does Google Earth work OK, in spite of what the app icon looks like?
Have you restarted your Mac since you copied Google Earth to the Applications folder?
A restart might correct that icon...

If you get info on your Google Earth app, what version is listed in that info window?
Current version is 6.1.0.4738

Thanks DeltaMac... LOL a re-boot did it.

I get that icon every time I install a new app. It goes away and turns into the proper icon the first time I start the app from the folder, not the dock. OSX 10.5.8,G4 IBook.
