error code 2STF/114: switched hd from pb g4 to ib g4 works fine in pb cheched cable conn, 2x still get ? and finder folder

A Mac OS X installation on a PowerBook is not guaranteed to be compatible with an iBook.

Try booting the iBook with the 'option' key held down, or try booting from the OS X Install/Restore CD/DVD... you may need to reinstall OS X on the hard drive for the iBook to be able to boot from it.

Went to boot off disc got to volume. nothing there. How do i format the hard drive? also it locked up right after that.

After you've booted from the CD/DVD, you should be asked to select a language. Select one, then click the right-arrow icon to proceed.

Once on the next page after selecting a language, select "Disk Utility" from the "Installer" menu at the top. When Disk Utility opens, you can use it to partition and/or format your internal drive.

Once formatted/partitioned, quit Disk Utility, and the Mac OS X install process will pick up where it left off.

When i get to disc utility all i have is first aid /erase/partition/restore/.when i hit partition i see no options available the only thing in the left box is 3.9gb matshitacd-r/and mac os x inssall dics 1.It also says select a volume scheme, choose a volume name and a format, and resize the volumes.
