Macbook running 100 times slower.

ok so i have the macbook model no.A1181.
Its the black macbook that 2.4ghz intel duo core processor and 2gb of memory and 250 gb hard drive the 13.3 screen and it is black with the lepord apps.

Latley i can not to anything at all i have gone and checked everything that needs to be checked and nothing is wrong, But ever since that virus scare about the macs was on the news my my macbook has been 100 times slower then usual. And on top of that i can not even go in any of my apps all the icon does is bounce and it never pops up and wen i look in my force quit it tells me that the app is not responding it happens with everything on the macbook. And i can't even go on the internet at all the moment i got to search for a website it doesn't even come up and again says not responding. I am both a mac and pc user and have grown up on both mac and pc. So i know how to use a mac but i can't not find out what is wrong and i am really worried because i payed 1500 for this.

If you've checked everything, and nothing is wrong with it, then what else is there to do? It's in perfect condition, and you've checked every piece of software, every nook-and-cranny of the OS, and every piece of hardware (inside and out). There's obviously nothing to fix.

...or we can be less dramatic and more objective... ;)

Try one or more of the following procedures (if you're unclear on how to do any of them, a simple forum search or Google search will point you in the right direction):

1) Boot from your Install/Restore CD/DVD and repair the hard drive
2) Reboot the machine in "Safe Mode"
3) Check your user account's login items to see if some resource-hogging program is starting up upon login
4) Open Activity Monitor and see if any one process is consuming an inordinate amount of CPU cycles
5) Create a new, temporary user account, log in under the new account, and see if the slowness persists

Report back with your results.
 
First check to make sure that you didn't get one of the two known Trojans on OS X. First use the free application DNSChanger Removal Tool and see if you have foolishly downloaded a DNS changing Trojan (from a p0rn site) pretending to be a video plugin. Also read the blog article about the pirated iWork/Photoshop Trojan called Identifying and Removing the iWork09 Trojan. Also if you are in the US or Canada consider using the free openDNS.com (they even have a video to explain their free service and how it protects you) and control your own surfing.

Lastly when is the last time you did some software maintenance on your Mac? You can use the free Yasu or 0nyx and run all the cleaning routines. Once the program reboots your Mac manually reboot again to completely rebuild your startup/shutdown cache. Doing this about every three months will keep your Mac almost running like it is new.
 
How much free space do you have on your hard drive ? Mac OS needs several GB of free space to operate smoothly (I would suggest at least 10 GB free for a single user).
 
The chances that you have contracted a Trojan are incredibly slim, and it is highly unlikely that what you are experiencing is due to one.

I'm willing to bet that if you go to this Web site:

and run all of the relevant routine maintenance (which should take you all of about 10 minutes) that your Macintosh will be all better afterwards.
