malware proxy server?

I think a proxy server may be intercepting my internet...I get the "'this site has may no valid certificate' message when trying to go to my homepage. never gotten it before. plus, inetrnet response time has gotten very slow.

Macbookpro, os10.4.11 cuurent norton antivirus

How do I determine if a proxy server is getting my stuff, and how do I eliminate it?

That's inaccurate.
Little Snitch informs you whenever a program attempts to establish an __outgoing__ Internet connection.

sounds like a good time to try a public DNS server, such as OpenDNS.

Check and see if you have a proxy defined for either your ethernet or wireless connection:

System Preferences > Network

Then, select your connection on the left-hand side, and click "Advanced." Check under the "Proxies" pane to see if you have a proxy defined.
