Mime Plugin

All files on the internet have a "mime-type", that is, the type of application that is needed to open that file. "mime-types" can include document, audio, video and interactive formats.

There is no such thing as a "mime plugin". You are most likely looking for some other type of plugin. If you tell us what file/address or mime-type you're trying to open, we can point you in the right direction.

I am going to shout this to drive this home :

DON'T EVER TRUST A WEB SITE SAYING YOU NEED a QUICKTIME MIME or QuickTime plugin!!!!

This is the way the first Trojan for OS X was distributed (from a p0rn site of all things). So a free Trojan scanner for that Trojan was made and is called DNSChanger Removal Tool.

now as a new Mac OS X user you will probably only ever need two free QuickTime plugins to view about 99% of video on the net. the Quicktime plugins are Perian and Flip4Mac. Now with these two plugins you will be able to look at most video except Windows Media that is DRM'd. That is why most video on the net went to Flash.

Lastly if the video will not play in QuickTime with these two plugins then download the free VLC. This free application will even play oversea DVDs without asking for region codes.
