Hi everyone,

My grandfather does not remember his password on a Mac computer. I am trying to figure it out for him, because his gmail account logs in automatically. Is there some way I can get the password for him, is it saved somewhere?

Regards,
Ted

What year is the mac computer or what model? Does it have a DVD install disk?

1. If it has an Install OS X, boot to the DVD and use the menu items when the first window that comes up and somewhere in the menu items will be a reset password section,

2. If it is running Lion then follow the steps in the blog post Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password.

I don't think this post is about the account login password.
The memorized gmail password may be retrieved from your Keychain Access utility (in your Utilities folder)
Click on Passwords, then scroll down to a line that looks relevant to your gmail account. Double-click on that line, then check Show Password. It will ask for the admin user password (not the forgotten gmail password!), and the saved password for gmail (or whatever) will show.
