I have a PC and a iBook G4. I just bought a Netgear router. I installed it on the PC and it's working, but I cannot get the wireless to work on the Mac, how can I do that?

I installed the Netgear on the PC and then I opened the airport card on the Mac and search for a network and it will not show one. However, the Netgear install said it was successful.

Is the Netgear configured properly for wireless access? Are you using WPA or WEP encryption? Is the SSID being broadcast (if not, you would have to manually enter the access point's name in your AirPort configuration)?

How do I manually enter the access point in the Airport configuration?

Are you hiding the wireless signal? Plus what are you using for wireless security, WEP or WPA, if any? We ask because what the router security is set at depends if the Mac can reach that level of security.

To manually look for a network just click on the wireless symbol in the Finder menu bar and choose "Join Other Network".
