So,

I was told there I a option/file in OS X that is responsible for synchronizing OS X with Domain settings.

I have OS X machine that is working on Domain. And it should import printer setups, finder setup etc.

I'm not sure how to do it ?

Any ideas ? Thx in Advance !

There is no such thing as a "Finder setup" in an Active Directory domain.

Printers will never set themselves up automatically in an Active Directory domain, unless both the printers and the machines connecting to the printers are compatible with and are running the Bonjour auto-discovery protocol, or you have group policy objects that push printer settings out to the client machines -- and, even then, only Windows-based computers are compatible with group policy objects.

Please elaborate more on what you're trying to do, and what your network setup consists of (Active Directory settings, domain server specs, operating system versions, client machine specs, group policy objects, etc.) to give us a better idea of what's going on... in other words, "help us help you." Hmm there has to be something because all users on domain have same icons in finder bar ...

And they can't run some of the applications - i had to contact service desk and tell them that i need this unlocked ..

Root is able to run them but is not able to grand privileges for Domain user ..

First of all what OS X system are you running? I ask because in 10.5.x it is different then 10.4.x putting them on a Windows Domain.

These questions were asked of you because we need answers to them in order to even begin troubleshooting your problem.

Please answer them.

There are many different things in the "Finder bar" -- hard drives, computers, networked shares, favorite folders, etc.

If you're saying that all computers show the same networked shares in the Finder bar, then that stands to reason -- all computers are seeing other computers on the network. This may or may not have anything to do with the fact that they're members of an Active Directory domain.

Please elaborate on the setup as asked. All we know right now is that you have some computers and something about a domain. That's not nearly enough information to even begin troubleshooting the problem(s).

OSX 10.4.x G5 Motorola / Intels
Domain Server Im sure is Xserver and i don't have clue about exact setup ... I was told .. there is somewhere a option that need to be turned on to make sure that OSX will inherit some default setup.

Ok... so it's not Active Directory at all; rather, it's Open Directory, correct?

Are you the network administrator, or someone who has administrative privileges to the network?

Agree its OD not AD ... posting msgs. while having flu sux !
I don't have power to control OD infrastructure but It can be arranged if needed. But I have full privileges to control local computers.

I don't think that I need acess to OD, I just need to make sure that newly installed system will inherit settings from OD. Like rest of them
