Now can't open Windows Media Player

Since Installing Tiger I now can't open Windows Media Player. Have installed the update for OSX 10.4.1 and have installed the latest version of WMP. Still same issue. "The application windows media player quit unexpectedly after it was opened."

I need this for my job. Help!

Try VLC, available from versiontracker.com. I don't think WMP is compatible with Tiger.

I have absolutely no problems launching WMP 9. However, I have issues connecting to some .asx streaming media. OTOH, .wmv files and embedded Windows Media video work fine.
 
Hmmm... did you install WMP under Tiger, or was it leftover from an upgrade? I haven't tried to install it personally, but from what I've heard, the installer doesn't work under Tiger... if so, I stand corrected!

Initially, I used my existing installation of WMP 9. In an attempt to fix the problem with .asx files, I reinstalled. It made no difference.

i have the same problem with some embedded .asx files in 10.3.9. it tells me the filename/path is wrong/doesn't exist or something to that effect. but i think that has something to do with certain music video content sites not allowing access for macs.
