Problems when cloning OS X

I recently backed up (cloned) both the OS 9 & OS X partitions to a removable firewire drive as I was replacing my powerbook drive with a larger unit.
After restoring (cloning) the new harddrive I cannot get either Explorer, Safari or the mail app to work in OSX (even though connected via internet connect Dial Up)). Explorer works fine in OS 9.

Any ideas?

I used Intego Personal Backup.

Could it be a permissions problem?

Try repairing the Permissions and see.

By the comments on VersionTracker it's looks like your not the only one having problems with that software.

I use Carbon Copy Cloner and it does a great job. The important thing to remember is OS X is BSD Unix based so "blessing" a cloned drive makes it bootable (Carbon Copy Cloner will do this for the user).
