Remove all mac effects

How would one remove every effect on mac os x? I find them quite a pain in the ass. switching, sliding, and all that crap.

What version of OS X, and on what Mac do you have? Have you looked at System Preferences->Sound, Sound Effects tab?

I have my Linux box, but I need mac to do iPhone development. I think the best solution would be to hack out the default os X window manager.

The source code for the Mac OS X interface is not available, so "hacking out" the window manager is going to be a pain in the ass, if even possible.

Can you provide a specific example of where "switching" and "sliding" of the interface is interfering with your development capabilities? Perhaps we can point you to a preference or something that will help alleviate your concerns, but a specific example from you (short movie clip, or a screenshot) would likely be needed so we know exactly what you're talking about.

Some of the things you probably want to switch as in System Preferences.
There, e.g. Dock > magnification off, genie effect, dock position probably left or right to keep it less annoying. And maybe hide it?
Also sound > sound effects you'll probably enjoy muted.

I've used the dock with those settings for the past 10 years. Especially with the earliest versions of Mac OS X and when there wasn't anywhere near enough RAM around, all the magnification and other effects of the dock icons drove me nuts. I don't like my dock icons to magnify, so it's always a fixed size. And since 10.5, my dock has always been on the side - I can't see what apps are open otherwise. Especially with that "3D" dock. You could also try to hack it to the classic style; this might still work in 10.7 http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=2007101815375480

It works in 10.7. Done that ever since they came out with that stupid 3D look in 10.5, but I still like my Dock at the bottom. ;)
