New release of safari 1.2.4 (v125.11) seems to be less stable. So I switched to Firefox 1.0. Presently much faster, more stable and better chances of getting the right behavior on many sites.
A couple of relatively "hidden" features of safari that are useful to switchers:
1) to change default browser in panther you must go into safari preferences, not into system preference (this is not as rational as it was in jaguar, apple is getting worse and worse as time passes, but what can we do..)
2) to export safari bookmarks (and then import safari bookmarks into firefox) you have to use the debug menu of safari, save to an html file and then import the hmtl file from firefox
