Which dvds can I buy?

Hi guys

I have a Powerbook 12" G4 with Superdrive. My dvd writer is 2x, so have been using 2x for the last few months. Does anyone know if I will also be able to use blank dvd-r 4x or 8x as well?

It's not the max speed that will tell you whether you can use it with your superdrive or not. It's more about the brand. If they are good quality media, you can use any speed >1 if you want to burn at least 2x. Go for good brands and it should work fine. And of course: don't buy a pack of 40 at once. First test..

Or more generally put: You can always burn optical media at lower speeds than their max speed info. I had almost no problems with very, very cheapo DVD-R 25-packs.

If you use 4x media in your 2x drive, though, it will burn at 1x. If you want to burn at 2x, then purchase 2x media.

this article is limited to certain drives that have the firmware update applied, so does not necessarily apply to all superdrives.
