When I press option key to select either mac or windows
it takes about 3 mins before anything happens when I press windows

Can I shorten this?
 
Install the Boot Camp windows drivers that is on the OS X disk. This will put in a control panel in Windows to select the startup disk (just like on a Mac in System Preferences->Startup Disk). This works just as well and in my tests is faster.
 
All things being equal - Windows boot time will be longer than OS X boot time. That's just the way it is...

Now that you have the Boot Camp drivers installed, you might see some improvement in boot times for Windows.
