    mapping a network printer

If your mac is running 10.3 it's as simple as opening the Printer Setup Utility. When adding a printer you should have "Winddows printing" as an option. You need to supply a username/password to connect to the wintel box, and if you are successfully authenticated, you should be able to see the...

    unix host file and Panther?

nope that didn't help, and wouldn't that require that the local named process is running? I'm still a bit puzzeled why changing order in resolv.conf doesn't work - that does the trick on any other unix system I have used. I think I'll try the same stuff on a 10.2 installation. Kind...

    unix host file and Panther?

Hi Forum I have tried to get my panther client to use a host file before resolving via DNS, but nothing seems to work. In my netinfo DB the ff is before dns agent. From the documentation of the resolv.conf file, you should be able to specify "lookup file" along side "nameserver...

How do I make new Folder with full Read/Write permissions?

You could install Sharepoints - it will give better control of file/folder permissions. The default permission for files/folders created are read and write for the owner and read only for the group. The only way to change this behavior is to go and edit /etc/rc.common, but unless you know...

Error = -36 when connecting to XP box from mac?

Have you installed some kind of firewall software on the PC? Error -36 means that the connection is refused. (I assume you have double checked your username/password). Kind regards Bogomips

Upgrade to Entourage X- can't import messages

It could be corruption of the Messages database. Try pressing the <alt> while starting Entourage 2001, at least in Outlook you get the option to repair/compress the database.

    bluetooth connection to multiple devices?

Got a 12" PB a t68i mobile and a bluetooth headset. I have tried to get the phone to see both the mac and the headset, at the same time, but it doesn't seem to be possible. Is this a limitation in the bluetooth technology or am I missing something?

backup of large amount of data

Hi Got a Xserve with a 1TB raid system connected. Right now I'm using Retrospect as the backup solution, but it only supports writing to one drive at a time. So the 550 Mb/min performance of my AIT3 loader is simply not fast enough. I am planning to expand the raid to 2Tb, but that is...
