    This is nothing new. Macs have always tried to open the most recent version of an application. It's got nothing to do with Panther per se.

    IIRC, my bookmarks were saved across the upgrade. The biggest thing about the upgrade was that the flakiness of the original OS X version is well and truly gone :)

    Here's one tangible improvement: Those with Telstra (and a few others) ADSL no longer need to fiddle with their MTU settings to access the net.

    Note that "re-installing" doesn't stuff up any of your files and preferences. The separation of OS, apps and files has some distinct benefits!

    Can't help further, Bob, but this will be a flourishing area, methinks. Services and the new RealBasic should make it incredily easy to whip up front-ends to the GUI. A fine example of what can be done is Brickhouse.

    I have the same setup. I was using openstrip but this is better (people with new keyboards, of course, don't need this add-on, which I'm sure Apple was thinking of when they killed the control strip). Easier solution: You can move PTHvolume by shift-drag and wclock by option-drag. If they...
