I have never shut down my powerbook (pismo/400mhz/640mb ram). It is always a restart or sleep :-). I have left my gf's old iBook on sleep (unplugged) for over 7 days with no problems.

hey, carracho aint' that bad either. It is more mac friendly also. In general I have found that it has a better community. But hell, maybe things have changed in the year since I ran my own carracho and hotline servers ;-)

You will have to check the specifics, but i believe that the ram and hard drives (with a reformat) will work fine in os x. I think that there is also a good chance that sb live will work. But i cannot find a web site to confirm it (i remember hearing about it a while ago). As for transfering...

Wow. I never stop being amazed by the origionality of Hervéish replys. To be a little off topic, I was writing this and noticed that the main apple site is powered by Mac OS X Server. I wonder if it is just one box powering that huge site. That would be pretty special.
