    Bluetooth / Sharing

Thanks for the details. When I tried bluetooth browsing again, it worked, with no apparent changes on my part. In this case, there is only the one folder. So, the message all enclosed items is not clear to me. Also, if I hit ok, is this reversible?

    Bluetooth / Sharing

When I try to browse the public folder / drop box on my iMac from my MBP, I get a message that I don't have permission. On my iMac I right click on the public folder in the sharing pane, I get this message: I'm not sure what this means?

MBP / External HD / Sleep related issue

Since waking from sleep causes the issue, what does the sleep feature have to do with recognizing an external HD?

MBP / External HD / Sleep related issue

I did look at filevault but I didn't see a way to select the WD drive. For now, I'm leaving WD security off. Maybe a solution will arise. BTW: I did read in few forums that a number of people with MBPros are having external drive issues (although not the same as mine) using ML.

MBP / External HD / Sleep related issue

Photoshop is working now. Files were not on WD Drive, which contains 3 partitions. I tried having only one partition but that made no difference. Firewire connection. I also tried the USB cable for the WD with no help. Yes. I do have a backup. Disk utility and Disk Warrior both report that...

MBP / External HD / Sleep related issue

I appreciate your suggestions, and I tried all of them. Unfortunately, they haven't resolved this nuisance issue. I only tested WD drive on the iMac for check. Photoshop is now working for whatever reason. I don't get messages asking for permissions.

MBP / External HD / Sleep related issue

I don't think it's the drive, as it works with no issues on my iMac / 10.6.8. Logging out and in doesn't work, either. I have to shut down. With security off of the WD drive, I now noticed that Photoshop will not let me edit an image. Ejecting the WD lets PS work. Is there a way to turn off...

MBP / External HD / Sleep related issue

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) If I enable the external Western Digital My Passport firewire drive security, I can access my files on that drive. But, when I put my MacBook pro to sleep then wake it up and try to access a file on the WD drive I get HD related errors such as #50...

    Logout freeze issue

10.5.2 I have read other post regarding login and log out issues. This seems intermittent--when logging out, the process begins but then the blue screen hangs. Need to reboot. I tried this with safe boot, and log out did work--but haven't tried this again. Permissions repaired, also...

    Safari crashes!

You might try uninstalling such plug-ins as Speed Download, or any other 3rd party plug-ins which might be causing the crash.

G5 2.3 Firewire Power Down Lacie Issue

Although my external LaCie DVD burner when connected to my new G5 works, it (the LaCie unit) does not power down when I put the computer to sleep. The LaCie Burner did power down correctly upon sleep with my G4. LaCie told me it's an Apple issue. Is there a fix for this besides manually...

    Beach Ball too Often

I appreciate all your suggestions. The solution: As it turned out, I had inadvertanly set up Techtool Pro to check SMART status every half hour—which, for some reason, was also active when logging in as new user. Pilot error.

    Beach Ball too Often

Thanks for the info. This may not be the cause for my beach ball, but … Using FontDoctor, I was able to repair fonts in various areas. In the system/library/fonts, however, although I was able to repair this font after moving it to the desktop, but cannot place it back into the same...

    Beach Ball too Often

Since things the beach ball doesn't appear after rebooting in safe mode, doesn't that imply that something is loading in the regular boot that is causing the issue?

    Beach Ball too Often

Another thing I noticed: While system profiler indicates that both hard drives are verified, disk utility shows one drive as unverified. Tech Tools and DiskWarrior do indicate that the drive in question is verified. Thoughts?
