It's possible, but are you taking the iBook with you? Is it going to be at home? Get specific dude.

If you don't mind coughing up about AU$1500, then buy Photoshop. Undoubtedly the best photo-editing/manipulation software ever. If not, there is Photoshop Elements which is a lot cheaper, maybe a couple of hundred bucks, and it does pretty much the same thing, but has less features.

I have an iBook, and you'll know when the fan is on. Believe me. It is loud. It turns on when I play DVDs and it drowns out the movie. I bought a DVD player so it's all good now. The fan will only come on when it is bloody hot.
