Well, I've looked and there is. I'm authenticating with Active Directory and controlling with Open Directory. It creates a local folder in the users directory. It can get quite large with many users I'm sure and I want to limit that.

When you log in with a network account on OS X it creates a local folder in the users directory. I want this folder to be deleted when a user logs out. Can this be done?

It is a wireless network using airespace and wep encryption. We have approximately 70 access points throughout our buildings.

I am not using automatic location. I am using the option to join a preferred network in my network list, which happens to be only 1 network. In the advanced options it is even set to keep looking for recent networks if preferred network is not found. I don't know why it does this.

I'm running 10.4.5. The problem is not that I can't connect, the connection is fine once the computer starts, but sometimes when it goes into standby the connection is dropped and does not automatically reconnect. I manage hundreds of these ibooks and it drives me nuts.

I don't know why airport never re-establishes a connection with a closed network that is listed in my preferred networks. If for any reason I drop the connection, it does not automatically reconnect. I have to actually click on choose another network and enter the information, or reboot the laptop.

I haven't tried it, but the problem I see is that I created a custom template that each new user gets on the local machine because it has specific apps that are installed with shortcuts on the dock. I don't know if I can do that from the server based on local applications.

I'm toying with Open Directory using my active directory groups. It seems to all be working good, but I can't get everything done I want. For example, on the local machine I can set it so that a user can't modify their dock. There is a preference setting for dock in Workgroupd manager that...

nevermind, I see you have to enable an image you can start the service, then NFS started as well.

I have a tiger server set up now and in Server Admin I can't start NFS or Netboot. Both have a greyed out start button. What needs to be done first to get these services running?

I got to where I need to be, but can't figure out how to check the box and set access priveledges for remote desktop. A simple click of the space bar will check boxes in windows. I hate mac shortcuts.

With windows you can simply hit the "window" key and the start menu is brought up. Is there a way to bring up the "apple" menu from the apple at the top left? I find myself needing to access system prefs and other things and want to do with a keyboard shortcut. Thanks

I still can't get this mouse to work. The light is on and they keyboard works, tried taking out keyboard and using same usb port, still nothing. It is an actual xserv hardware with xraid. Any ideas? I need to get into the system preferences. Is there a way to do that remotely? I can't...

Is there a way that I can mount an SMB share from a windows server so that is is always there without having to reconnect?

I will try this again, but when a set it up with a specific network I had the same problem, when the connection would drop I had to open internet connect and re-establish the connection with the correct name and password.
