What is your favourite Apple product?

I like the orignal macintosh, and the mac mini is cute as a button. I must say though that after walking trhough your average computer store with the towers they have, I come home and am once again impressed with the smooth elegance of my Quicksilver. It just looks so smooth, flowing and shiny...

I know the 2.5 dual is liquid cooled... I'm just curious how they will hold out in a few years when things start getting old....hate to see liquid coming out the bottom of the computer... :D Tim

I just find the G5 tower to be quite large....still very cool though. Liquid cooling would be nice, anyone have any long term experience with it though....?? Thanks for the input... later Tim

    LG GSA-4163b CD/DVD burner

Put this in my G4 QS and it works awesome....the original sony dc-r/rw drive was ok, but this thing is super fast and super quiet. Does all the formats in cluding DVD+R dual layer and DVD-RAM up to 5x. Burning was supported in finder, but needed patchburn 3 for the iApps to see it...the...

    I heard a rumour

I cannot be sure where I heard the rumour as I spent several hours one day seeing if i could find a way to update the firmware without installing it in a pc first...somewhere in my travels there was a post that basicallly said 10.4 was going to have native support for way more devices than it...

    I heard a rumour

Sorry, yes I meant CD/DVD drives. Patchburn 3 allows burning out of iApps and works good but I am looking for a way to update the drive firmware wihout resorting to installing in a pc for that process since all the updates are pc only files. Was hoping tiger might make this whole scene...

    I heard a rumour

that Tiger was going to give support for many aftermarket drives. Is there any truth to this, and will it be able to update firmware as well or are we still SOL unless we also have a pc for some of the other (ie, not pioneer or sony) drives?? Just curious. Installed a LG GSA-4163b drive in QS...

    dvd burner firmware update

LG gsa-4163b burner installed into my 933 quicksilver with 10.3.8. It works pretty good, but I am at firmware A101 and updates are out there that go to A103 and help increase burn speeds etc, but are windows only downloads. Is there some way to update the firmware in this drive?? I've been...

    OS X cool running?

Hi Guys, have an oddball question for you. Did a search and couldn't find any info but basically I am curious as to why OS X runs cooler than OS 9?? Is it just more efficient? Does it control the fans better? I have a QS G4 (was 733, now 933) and am playing with fans to try and quiet it down a...

20" imac 1.8ghz - is it noisy or not?

My wife has one and its fine...yes you can hear the fans when they come on but its not overly noisy IMHO. But to be sure YOU would be happy I would find one at a store and go listen to it, run lots of apps and work it hard to get the fans to come on.... Later Tim

    Home network router Q

I used a Netgear RT314 router with a setup very similar to yours, setup was easy and I have been very happy with it. Works well, seems really secure. I have norton personal firewall on my machines and not one of them has had one access ATTEMPT since the router was installed, so its obviously...

    Mac OS X...

Mac OS X is great, I really enjoy using it and it has some very nice features. However, it seems Apple has forgotten that their cutomers like to play with settings... My personal pet peeve with OS X is the blinking menus, it was the first thing I turned off in OS 9 simply because I know what I...
