It was the ordering of the updates... very picky.

DVD player and 10.1.1 updates... they don't install

until Monday to know if it works... since I don't have internet access at home. Since you were curious, I used to have a cable modem service and I don't have a land line phone. The cable modem service started crapping out and the company wasn't doing a damn thing about it, so I got sick of...

DVD player and 10.1.1 updates... they don't install

OK, I think I may have found the answer: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106582 A snippet from the above URL: ------------------ Note: When using the automatic Software Update feature, the order in which you will see the required updates, and must install them is: 1...

DVD player and 10.1.1 updates... they don't install

I also have found this link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106235 but none of the cases apply to my machine. It's not any of the machines listed, and the additional causes list at the bottom of the article don't apply either. Anyone have any suggestions. I'm considering...

DVD player and 10.1.1 updates... they don't install

I tried to install http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/installerupdate.html but I had the same problem with that as with the DVD updater and 10.1.1, my OSX hd could not be selected. Thanks for the suggestion though... I was sure that was going to fix my problem.

DVD player and 10.1.1 updates... they don't install

I got both updates from Apple's web site (I didn't use Software update because my internet connection is non-existent). Anyway, I'm running 10.1 right now. I have a 466Mhz G4 tower. When I try to install either update, I get to the screen where it asks which drive I want to install the update...

10.1, how to trash using right click?

I was just playing around some more (I don't think it's permission problems because I'm in my home directory structure when I'm trying to delete) and I noticed something very odd. When I left click on a file, it highlights as normal. If I right click on the file, it deselects it and the right...

10.1, how to trash using right click?

Ever since I upgraded to 10.1 I've been experiencing a minor, but annoying problem where I can't (within a finder window) delete an item by right-clicking on the file or folder, then choosing "move to trash". That option is no longer there. I can do that with objects on the desktop, but not...

Is anyone willing to U/L 10.1?

I'm working on it... then like a dope, I forgot to compress the file before I started sending it. I'm gzipping the image as I type this. If it's significantly smaller (which I'm sure it will be) I'll stop the other upload and start the compressed version.

    Fry's Lies

but I'm guessing if one Comp USA has them, they all do. That's just an assumption though.

    Fry's Lies

I walked in, there was no line... just a table at the entrance, with a bunch of computers showing off windows XP. I asked the guy about the OSX update and he just handed me a copy. I was expecting more people. I guess I'm glad that everyone else isn't as geeky as I am.

Power light after 9.2.1 on G4 "Digital Audio"

I have one of the Macs release this year, but not the newest line. It's a 466Mhz G4. I just upgraded from 9.1 to 9.2.1 and when I rebooted from the update, the computer rebooted fine, but my power light went out. I didn't have time to play with it (I was updating the software before work) so...

Build errors part II - Example in Oreilly book

I was playing around with the first simple windowing example in the oreilly cocoa book. The example simply contains a text field and the programmer adds a subclass of NSObject to "control" the text field. The end result is the date, displayed in the text field. Anyways, the interface builder...

    Build errors

I seem to recall pressing the build button again, after receiving that error doesn't cause the error to reappear. I'm guessing it's a false warning... if you goto the builds directory, the files are there. I know this was of no help to you... My solution is to ignore the problem. Simple eh...

    Pay for 10.1?

I read on a news web site about how 10.1 update is likely to cost around $20. I was under the impression that it would be free. After all, they are fixing things that should have been in 10.0. They released what I considered a crippled OS. Perhaps crippled isn't the right word... incomplete...
