    compiling pine on leopard

Don't know the big difference between the two. Just toyed around with it. You can chec the story here: http://www.washington.edu/alpine/overview/story.html Can't remember what I did to get mine running, but a quick googling revealed that another "os x" binary is availible through Apple...

    compiling pine on leopard

Otherwise use alpine. Which is the follower for Pine and also developed by Uni. of Washington. Pine is not developed anymore. I have succesfully run alpine on Leopard. You can find binaries (and source) here: http://www.washington.edu/alpine/acquire/

Safari 3.x: Focus on wrong history URL...?

I'm kind of the other way round. I have always hated Safari for not giving me the option of just the domain name. So I was thrilled when I noticed the new behaviour. Don't know how to change it though.

Know this sound stupid but try to turn the notebook bottom up and eject the disc. It has saved me a couple of times before.

    Great Albums

OK Computer is their third album. Bends was the second (Pablo Honey 1st). I really dig The Bends alot. But the more melancolic style on OK Computer just suits Radiohead better in my opinion.

    10.4.9 in Software Update

I also thought it was a little odd. But maybe a plist file which tells if it's a first run has been reset or something (as I suspect is the same with the sudo prompt). Beside that little oddity everything works like a charm

    10.4.9 in Software Update

mds is afaik the process that handles volumes (harddisk, memory sticks etc). Didn't notice if my computer did the same. I also noticed the sudo thing. I think they resetted some of the first run stuff. I was also presented with the setup assistant after runnning the update

    Watt consumpsion G4 350 mhz

The only way to get a precise answer is to get a device you put on the powerplug of the computer. Here in Denmark you can borrow such a device at the local electricity company. Don't know about the Neatherlands. It all comes to how much stuff you have in th machine. Number and type of disks...

    Macros for Macs

If you're talking about "snippets" to insert, so if you e.g. writes "ddate" it inserts the current date, then TextExpander is pretty neat

    Watt consumpsion G4 350 mhz

If you know the Ampere of the computer (often printed on the back) you can calculate it your self. Multiply the Ampere with the voltage you use (in Europe it's 230 Volts). So if it draws 0,5 ampere it would consume (0,5 * 230) = 115 Watt According to apple-history.com it's 200watt

    Mail without audible notification

In Mail I have this "boing" when new mail arrives which is very nice, since I don't have to leave a program to check if new mail has arrived. The problem is that I'm subscribed to a couple of mailling lists. I have made a rule in Mail that sets them as read mail since I only want to check...
