how can i format a laptop HD thru firewire, or any other way? my ibook's screen won't come on, and my powerbook is the only one i can really use...besides my really old p3.

*sigh* i attempted both resets, didn't work. before it went "out", it didn't go thru any of the logic board symptoms. i only replaced the reedswitch because it had a broken cable, hence reed switch wasn't working properly. any other suggestions greatly appreciated.

i recently replaced the reed switch since the back light wasn't kicking in on my ibook g3 800mhz. now, after installing the new reed swich, the back light doesn't kick in, nor does a faint background (which used it used to do). external monitor does not work, but external firewire HD works...

thanks for the replies. wow, i just got off the phone with apple, and i'm quallifed for repair at no cost. THANK YOU! wow, i'm totally broke after my pb purchase too. i've heard some "free repair" and "$600 repairs", so i was a bit anxious to know what everyone else had gone through.

has anyone sent out their ibook recently for the logic board relacement? my g3 ibook just went out on me. too antsy to find out what the price is for repair. its not under warranty. hlp.

i take notes while in class, so i'd hear typing while recording with the onboard mic. i've tried it.

wow, thats the first i've heard of that. i know for sure that its ok, and my professors recomoned that we record lectures.

so, its possible? whats the difference between the iSights mic vs. other USB "high end" mics?
