This is definately new behavior. I also drag out addresses to my desktop all the time. They never used to appear with the extension, now they do. I don't know what OS or update made it happen, though. It's not a big deal but it bugs me too.

I repair permissions about every week so I didn't think that was it. But I did trash the preferences file and tried again and it WORKED! :) Thanks for the help.

My automatic shutdown in Energy Saver in Preferences doesn't seem to work. I have my screen saver set to come on in 15 minutes. I used to leave for work while downloading large files so I'd set my Display to go to sleep in 10 minutes so it wouldn't stay on all 8 hours while I was gone...

Update: I was able to enable Disk Mode but neither WinXP or Mac would allow me to view files on the iPod. Both machines wanted me to Initilize the drive. I tried to do that on the Mac but it just opened up Disk Utility and confused me. So I ended up just doing a Restore Factory Defaults...

Well, here's a mini-update. I found I wasn't pressing PREV and NEXT fast enough after the logo returned. I do that and I can enable Disk Mode. But WinXP asks me to Format the drive. I don't want to do that. I'm going to go home and try to enable Disk Mode on the Mac, then get my files...
