    iPod charging strategy/philosophy

I've had my iPod for a little over six months, and I love it. Of course, I'd like a little better battery life, but I'm not complaining. I am however paranoid about how I charge and discharge it (this comes from the fact that I just had an iBook battery die and was told that I didn't "manage...

    The Bible on your iPod

Probably because the KJV is public domain, while the NIV is limited by the translations copyright holders, Zondervan (I think that is who it is). That would be my guess. d8n_two

    iTunes 4.5

Dude, thats a nice little app and all, but it would be nice if it were built-in. (Yeah, I'm that lazy.) Especially considering they built it into the Windows version. It's not that big of a deal though. I tried the feature on a Windows machine of a friend. The results are just okay, but...

    iTunes 4.5

What's up with the WMA to AAC being a Windows-only feature? Disappointing. I just downloaded some songs from band's site yesterday that were WMA, and I was all excited that I could convert them. No luck since I'm on a Mac though. d8n_two

    802.11g solution for iBook G3?

Given the steady transition to 802.11g (99% of our computers), our office has decided to turn off the 802.11b (hybrid mode) of our wireless network to gain a little extra network efficiency, at least according to the IT people. This leaves myself and a few other iBook G3 owners out of luck with...

    iPod polish

I got an iPod for Christmas, and apparently everyone who picks it up has to look at the back and try to polish the fingerprints out of it. Because of this, I already have some streaks and scuffs that aren't bad, but enough to annoy me. Anyway, does anyone have experience with using polish on...

Did apple kill internet sharing in iTunes 4.0.1?

Similar to Siemens, I think Asante refers to port forwarding as virtual servers or distributed servers. These features should be available through the advanced screen of your router setup. d8n_two

Did apple kill internet sharing in iTunes 4.0.1?

I think SpeedStream may refer to port forwarding as "virtual servers". Look that up in the manual that came with your router. I'm pretty sure that this is the same concept. You'll have to create a custom setup (It should have some preset settings for Web, SMTP, FTP, etc.) Hope that helps...

Did apple kill internet sharing in iTunes 4.0.1?

Sorry, I read your message too fast. Actually, I believe Apple did disable this feature. You now have to be on the same subnet in order to access another computer's shared lists. If that's not the case or you use a hack, you would connect via the public IP address, but you would have to...

Did apple kill internet sharing in iTunes 4.0.1?

If you are sharing within your LAN, you want to connect using the LAN address. The public IP address is actually being shared by all the machines on your network assuming you are using NAT. The LAN address is more than likely a private IP address used for all communication within the LAN...

    .mac spam problem?

I have about 6 different e-mail addresses. My university account gets hammered with spam. Spam on it gets sent to every username from a to z @okstate.edu. My address just happens to be in the middle of that. I presume this is done by an address generator. Using my Web hosting plan I've...

    .mac spam problem?

I can count the number of people who have my .mac mail address on one hand. The fact is that the spam is being sent to a given range of .mac addresses similar to mine. This isn't a matter of me giving my address out. It's a matter of a spam program "guessing" my address using an address...

    .mac spam problem?

I'm curious if anyone else is noticing a major increase in the amount of spam in their .mac e-mail account. I'm getting close to 8 new spam messages a day now all sent to an address similar, but not identical to my .mac address. Most of it is really nasty spam too. I'm talking pictures that...

apple e-store coupons - use for iTunes?

Well, as you could tell, I had been pretty frustrated with this whole deal. I called Apple, not to complain, but really to try and negotiate an extension so that I could use the coupon toward an iPod after Christmas. They couldn't do that, which I understand, but I thought it was worth a shot...

apple e-store coupons - use for iTunes?

That's the whole problem. I have friends who were told the same thing you were, and others who were told the same as I was. It's really not that big of a deal though. My coupon expires Dec. 15. I'm probably going to buy an iPod after Christmas. I wish I could extend the deadline to Jan...

apple e-store coupons - use for iTunes?

This kind of irritates me. Before I decided to choose the "gift" certificate, I e-mailed Apple to ask them if I could use it in the Apple Store Online for Education. (At that time, there was no mention in the fine print that I couldn't.) I received an e-mail saying this: Mr. ------ The...
