    AARRRGHH!! Macromedia vs Adobe SHOCKER!!!

has been losing money for more than a year AFAIK. Their aquisition of Allaire which had also been losing money (because ColdFusion and Spectra were lsoing out against PHP and other OpenSource products), has not brought them much and they haven't put much in the way of improvements into any of...

Why the new exploit isn't a huge deal

Although primitive there is a way in which this can be expoited remotely in 10.1 via applescript. Your ssh remote user (those using telnet have only themselves to blame anyway) who has say his own folder on your machine "because he's your friend who gave you that nice Painter 7.0 crack last...

    MS spying through Office v.X?

http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,5098483,00.html?chkpt=zdhpnews01 Ms is doing exactly with OfficeXP and IE5 on Windows what I warned of. These progs send a memory image (I -hopefully- assume of only OfficeXP and IE5's data plus serial nimber and product key) when they crash. PC...

    is this real java???

Hotspot is the runtime bytecode optimizing compiler that is part of the standard jdk 1.3 VM from Sun. It's supposed to be able to optimize performance bottlenecks in runtime. The -server option is, if I remember correctly supposed to relate to the way the VM runs as opposed to the way it runs in...

    Moderator....

Could you perhaps tell me why the thread on mysql problems was moved to the linux community? It does seem to me as if the moderators on this board are overly fond of moving threads to nooks and crannies. Let me explain why I find this particular move crap. 1.This board may have an area known as...

    MS spying through Office v.X?

I hope soellman is right. However (I'm not a Unix guru) I had a problem once on a Linux box after Netscape6 beta trashed my Xserver and I was trying to fix it. I came across the commuication used by Xfs and X86free. It used the Unix port for communictaion and I was wondering if one specifically...

    MS spying through Office v.X?

This is interesting. A good packet sniffer is tcpflow. It is more powerful than tcpdump and will monitor all traffic between you and a foreign host. It is available as a package. I don't have the url handy right now but you can find it on the web easily enough. It will also as far as I know look...

    Please Help Find IP

Back off people, leave the guy alone. It is somewhat arrogant to criticise people who have less knowledge than you. That is, unless you have all the answers yourself. Apart from that, being a moderator doesn't require people to have so much technical knowledge as requiring to moderate users...

    Try this

Couldn't it be a problem of diskspace? I would assume that Bryce and Painter both need large amounts of scratch space. And although it is probably not related at all I've known Photoshop6 on Win2k to collide neatly with window's virtual memory and cause all sorts of problems.

    Netscape X Rulez...

No, I think they're refering to Mozilla. This has become my default browser in X. It's faster than IE, especially with hotmail strangely enough, and supports all the CSS and DOM standards. For those people saying it is a web designers nightmare, I suggest you take the time to look up the...
