    hard link problems

fixed it. cause: mounted network volume connected when I disconnected, causing some process to get left behind, locking down the link... or something.?? fix: boot into single user mode, "mount -aw", then a "ln -f filename".

    hard link problems

I have a hard link that mysteriously appeared on my root drive, and I can't remove it. It is a hard link to "/". I have no idea how it got there. The link is named the same as my DNS/IP name at work (appeared at home - iBook). I tried various ways of removing it, but only ended up starting...

    copy/paste stuff

if you're getting a PowerBook then you have two buttons and a trackpad. If you want a mouse, get a 3rd party mouse with the options you like. Kensington (old ADB 4-button is my fav'), MS, or Logitech are all good mice IMHO. I too love the unix middle-paste, but am waiting for...

    Linux Partitions

I installed YDL on my old UMAX S900 clone-war era pmac. I would strongly suggest installing YDL on a different drive. You have an iMac, and I'm not positive about booting linux off a firewire HD (without some possible tweaking?), so check to make sure. I'm also not sure if you can...

…guru apache i need (perl_test.cgi internal server error)

can you post the perl_test.cgi you are trying to execute? the test-cgi is not a perl script. you can tell because that first line doesn't have the path to perl, but to your shell. #!/bin/sh (vs.) #!/usr/bin/perl -T (which works for me under 10.2) so make sure that line is...

    Multiple User Permissions?

sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. Use cron to change the permissions of the folder and it's contents every 15 minutes. In the term, type... sudo vi /etc/crontab type in your admin passwd... type in this line at the bottom of the cron file... 15 * * * * root chmod -R 777...
