I use isopropyl alcohol on my ibook plastic once a week, and have done for the past 6 months in owning it. I woudln't do it on the LCD or keys, thats just stupid - but it is fine on the plastics - has never harmed them whatsoever.

i'd say its just isopropyl alcohol, you could save heaps of $$$ from buying it at the supermarket! Oh, and you shoudln't use any solvent on your lcd - apple actually states to use a damp cloth, it causes no problems!

sounds like your drive is damaged dude, if diskwarrior doesn't work there isn't much hope left in my experience... in future backup important info to more than one drive - like a RAID type setup for example

lol thanks for that - but as an apple service agent its pretty well my deal to diagnose it lol anyways, reseating the logic board seems to have corrected the fault.

as said above - check your RAM. Swap it with known working RAM and try that - if still the same you're logic board may have failed - if however swapping ram fixees it your RAM has failed.

Its not. It is a power management issue, which is a component of the logic board. Not a battery(indicated by loosing date+time settings), not bad memory(indicated by beep codes or led codes at startup), not a conflict(indicated with halting at grey apple or spinning wheel screen) not a bad...

take it back- i've had 2 macbooks here at work with dodgey optical drives, they're replaced straight away anyway

if the housing is bubbling in the middle, chances are the cables inside aren't seated in the correct places. I've done the same thing myself, fortunately i saw it before sending it back out of store. On the outsides, can be caused by airport antennas being slightly out of place or anything...
