Also, check out the tool Dragster on versiontracker, its supposed to fix the problem, at least for some. I have found for my part that running diskwarrior and coldboot also seems to fix this (the 1 time I had the problem at least).

I have a Thumbdrive that I use for moving files between my mac and various windows boxes, but for some reason I am not allowed to rename the disk unless I go to a PC! Why?

I guess mouse guestures are like in Opera - you can hold down right while moving your mouse in certain patterns and you perform an action. In opera you can also hold left while rightclicking for going forward and vice versa for backward (in the windows version at least). Very nice tools...
