Am I being neurotic?

After upgrading to 10.5.7, numerous permission errors highlight regularly in Disc Utility, which I run weekly (probably for too often). I never saw these with 10.5.6, or for that matter any earlier incarnation of the OS.

I have also noticed progammes hanging more than before (especially Mail).

I have run DiskWarrior and that didn't report anything untoward.

Should I give up worrying about this and maybe join the Foreign Legion instead?

Anyways, a long time ago I read an article--and some posts HERE--which basically told me to chill out on Permissions. Considering with 10.5 it made repairing permissions

, I rather stopped doing it unless the specific problems happen.

Like you, I check my volumes every week . . . back up everything about every other day. Twice I have had volume errors detected which DiskWarrior fixed. Once, when it did not seem to work, I remembered "Hey, I back this crap up for a reason!" The back-up has smaller errors which were fixed.

In all of this sometimes the permissions say they need fixing. Sometimes they say they do not. So . . . unless it is a specific problem I would not worry about it.

Now, I have not had the problems you have described save with the new Safari, but I also have Safari-Stand and like to modify it, so it is probably unhappy I am doing that!

I have read to fix Mail 100% processor service problem is quit Mail and to open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal) and put in the command:

Code:
/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Resources/resetsync.pl reset

Then restart Mail and this fix that.
