Just got the TV tonight and connected my DVI cable. now I know the cable works because I used it on a MUCH smaller TV but this one is obviously enormous. I got the image to appear, it was just real blurry and crazy. is there a display setting that I could change somewhere to make it work do you think?

yeah I tried that but didn't know which one would work. it's an older TV so I didn't want to make it any worse by messing around with it...

Look up the "native" display resolution in your TV's manual, then set the Display preferences on your Mac to that native resolution for the TV display.

Ah, I skipped over the part that said "CRT" -- there is no "native" resolution for a CRT.

Your MacBook should detect that it's connected to a CRT and offer options in the Display pane of the System Preferences for "refresh rate" (which should be 60Hz, I believe) and a resolution of 640x480 (or something similar, if it's a widescreen TV -- the vertical resolution should be around 420 to 500 or so).

Try setting the resolution of the CRT Display on the MacBook to something ultra-low (since CRT TVs are of considerably lower resolution than flat-screen TVs), and work your way up until you find the maximum resolution it will handle.

I doubt it's a 60-inch CRT display - never heard of one that big, outside of projection TVs, which wouldn't really be a CRT, either. I think the largest direct-view CRT TVs were 42 or 43-inch, and enormously heavy, like 400 lbs or so.

I doubt it's a 60-inch CRT display - ...
There is no doubt. The OP does not have a 60" CRT display. He may have a plasma, LCD/LED, or rear projection set. It would be helpful if the OP gave the manufacturer and model number of the set.
